Dance Instructor Charged with 20 Counts of Prostitution
Zumba dance instructor, Alexis Wright, pleaded guilty this week for running a prostitution scheme through her dance studio in Maine. She was arrested months ago for running this scandal and as of Friday she has pleaded guilty to 20 different counts of prostitution in her small town. According to reports, by her choosing to plead guilty, it is sparing her from having the court room exposed her in different sex videos that she taped, discussions of pornography and exhibitionism as well as a number of emails and text messages that discuss the details of her prostitution operation at the studio.
Now that she has admitted to her actions, the prosecution claims that they are going to seek to have her sentenced to 10 months in prison. Alexis Wright was also accused for working with a local insurance agent, Mark Strong, in the prostitution scandal, with him running the business side of things. During the 18 month period of the business, they accrued $150,000.
At the time of her arrest, Wright also was charged with hiding a camera during every sexual encounter with a client without getting their consent prior. Strong was sentenced to 20 days in jail for his conviction of 13 counts of prostitution promotion. While Wright was only officially charged with 20 counts of prostitution, the local authorities were coincide that there were at least 150 clients on her list from her town and elsewhere, many of whom are prominent figures in society.
Some of these people who have been charged for being involved in prostitution include a local high school hockey coach, a lawyer, a past mayor, a firefighter, among others.
